Paradox

Why wait

When all they do is rush

Why plan

When all they do is take a wild chance

Dance in the moment

Take what is “theirs”

Why give

When all they do is take and take

When emptiness excites them

When meaning eludes them

Why cry

When all they do is laugh

Glide through life

Live it up, seize the day,

And seize your heart

Then discard

Why pray

When all they do is curse

Sneer and pity

And laugh all the way down

The wide road most traveled

Why love

When all they do is hate

Throwing it back in your face

All the time never knowing

What it truly is

Why care

When all they do is fight

Ignoring discretion

Disregarding humanity

Achieving “greatness”

But why judge

When all they do is wonder

And puzzle and ponder

Wondering who they are

And why they are here

And where they are going

And why discount

When all they do is pretend

That all there is, is here and now

When secretly hoping

And wishing for more

And why despair

When you can hope

And pray and wait

And love

When they can’t

And trust

When they don’t

And believe

When they should

And hear

So you can tell

And walk

So they can follow

And hope

So they can believe

And love

So they can live
